8th ANNUAL CHARLOTTE KICKOFF NIGHT TO CELEBRATE
THE
OPENING OF HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL SEASON

This annual tradition to be played in the beautifully refurbished American Legion Memorial Stadium

Charlotte, NC – Teall Properties Group (TPG), formerly Scholastic Sports Marketing, is proud to announce the eighth installment of “Charlotte Kickoff Night powered by OrthoCarolina.” Having reached a significant marker in the history of this brand, the first seven years have proven that this event has become highly anticipated in and around the Charlotte community. A return to its roots, the “Charlotte Kickoff Night powered by OrthoCarolina” will be played at the recently renovated American Legion Memorial Stadium on Thursday, August 19, 2021.

“OrthoCarolina is thrilled to make this year’s event possible. Now, more than ever, we want to showcase and celebrate the student-athletes, coaches, parents & schools that have endured so much over the past year. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back to high school football under the lights in Uptown.” said Blair Primis, Senior Vice President of Marketing & Talent Management for OrthoCarolina. “It’s going to be an incredible night for our community, and we happily welcome the
return of big time high school football to Memorial Stadium.”

Game One, at 5:00pm, South Mecklenburg will line up against Charlotte Catholic in a contest that will feature two schools with proud, winning traditions. South Meck will look to continue building on their strong spring season and Charlotte Catholic will be starting their journey of battling for a fifth straight NCHSAA State Championship. Kickoff Night will provide a big stage for what will be a rebirth of their longtime “across the street” football rivalry as the two teams have not
played of late.

Game Two, at 8:00pm, is one that can be classified as a post-season matchup that will finally get its due during the regular season. Hough will face Myers Park. The quality of high school football in Charlotte is arguably at an unprecedented high, and Hough and Myers Park are two of the biggest and most talented teams in the region.

“Kickoff Night has always been a special event as it’s served as a celebration to the start of the high
school football season. Considering what we’ve all endured last year, showcasing these four great football programs Thursday, August the 19 th will feel even more special,” said James Companion of Teall Properties Group. “The newly renovated Memorial Stadium, located right in the heart of the Queen City, will help provide a first-class and memorable experience for our participants and fans.”

A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools Middle School Athletics. Tickets can be purchased in advance online: $10 for Saturday’s double header.
