CHARLOTTE KICKOFF NIGHT POWERED BY ORTHOCAROLINA RETURNS FOR YEAR 12
The Carolinas’ best high school football programs will be featured in the 12th annual Charlotte Kickoff Night powered by OrthoCarolina
CHARLOTTE, North Carolina — Teall Properties Group (TPG) & OrthoCarolina are proud to announce the matchups, date and location of the 12th annual Charlotte Kickoff Night powered by OrthoCarolina. This first-class community event continues to serve as the highly anticipated start to the high school football season. Keeping with its roots, the Charlotte Kickoff Night powered by OrthoCarolina will be played at Memorial Stadium in the heart of Uptown Charlotte on Sautrday evening, August 23, 2025.
“Charlotte Kickoff Night powered by OrthoCarolina is a powerful reminder of the role sports play in uniting our community, and we’re proud to support the event both on the sidelines and behind the scenes,” said Emma Gagnon, Marketing Specialist at OrthoCarolina. “For 12 years, our partnership with TPG has allowed us to champion the health and performance of student-athletes across the region. From preventive care to injury recovery, OrthoCarolina’s commitment to accessible, high-quality care is what helps keep these athletes—and this tradition—moving forward.”
Game One, scheduled for 5:00 p.m., will feature football programs: the Myers Park Mustangs (Charlotte, N.C.) against the Jay M. Robinson Bulldogs (Concord, N.C.). Led by Head Coach Christopher James, the Mustangs are looking to rebound from a 4-6 season and a 5th place finish in the 4A South Meck Conference. Despite last year’s record, Myers Park enters the 2025 season with elite talent. Leading the roster is nationally ranked edge rusher, Rodney Dunham (Class of 2026), recently committed to Notre Dame and considered one of the top 50 players in the country. Other star players to watch include four-star wide receiver with 15+ offers from major programs, Brody Keefe (Class of 2026) and defensive back Camdin Portis (Class of 2026) who has committed to play college football at Miami University. Their opponents, the Jay M. Robinson Bulldogs, bring the momentum after a dominant 12-1 season in 2024, claiming first place in the South Piedmont 3A Conference and advancing to the third round of the NCHSAA 3A State Playoffs. Under the leadership of Head Coach Jason Seidel, Robinson has a strong roster despite the graduation of talented starters last year. Key returners include defensive tackle Aiden Black (Class of 2026), tight end Landen Harding (Class of 2028), and sophomore running back Ennis Stiles (Class of 2028). Stiles received an offer from UNC Charlotte as just a freshman and now holds multiple Division 1 offers.
Game Two, scheduled to kick off at 8 p.m., will feature two Charlotte-area powerhouses as the Olympic Trojans (Charlotte, NC) take on the Butler Bulldogs (Matthews, NC). The Trojans, coached by Brandon Thompson are coming off an impressive 2024 season with a second-place finish in the 4A South Meck Conference. While they disappointingly exited early in the NCHSAA 4A playoffs, Olympic’s program continues to rise, graduating an impressive 12 players to the college ranks in 2024. Looking ahead, the Trojans now aim to reload and reassert themselves as contenders for a state title. The Butler Bulldogs, a program with three state championships between the years 2009-2012, are in a transition year with Brian Hales returning as Interim Head Coach following his brief retirement. Hales, who led Butler to its 2012 title, steps back into a program that finished 4-7 last season but holds high potential. Key players include senior wide receiver Donovan Pollard (Class of 2026), defensive back Amari Sifford (Class of 2026), and linebacker/cornerback Tyler Dent (Class of 2026). The Bulldogs are looking to prove once again why they should still be considered one of the top programs in the state.
“It is hard to believe that Charlotte Kickoff Night powered by OrthoCarolina is already in its 12th year! Every year this ends up being an event that is a major highlight for us and one we continue to talk about months later. These high school athletes somehow get even more talented every year, so it is awesome to see them get a chance to show what they can do at an exciting event like this,” said Jeremy Reiskind of Teall Properties Group. “This year we have some iconic programs competing who hold a rich history in NCHSAA competition. It is truly our goal to create a memorable experience for all the student athletes competing and their supporters. Of course, our awesome partner OrthoCarolina makes all this possible and we wouldn’t be able to do this without them!”
A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Middle School Athletics and Women’s Athletics.
